Turning 13 is a big milestone in your life because it officially marks the beginning of your teenage years. This exciting time comes with new freedoms, experiences, and opportunities that weren’t available to you as a younger kid. From being able to play more mature video games and watch PG-13 movies to signing up for your own social media accounts, there’s a lot to look forward to. You might even start thinking about your first part-time job or celebrate with special ceremonies like a Bar Mitzvah. So, what can you do when you turn 13? Let’s dive into some of the cool things you can do once you hit this lucky number!

Things You Can Do Once You Turn 13

Watch PG-13 Movies

At 13, you’re allowed to watch PG-13 movies, which means some of the content might be a bit more intense or serious, but it’s considered okay for teenagers.

Play Video Games That are Rated T for Teen

Once you turn 13, you can start playing video games that are rated T for Teen. These games might have more action or complex stories compared to games for younger kids.

Sign Up For Social Media Accounts

Most social media platforms let you create your own account once you’re 13. You need to be at least 13 years old to sign up for the largest social media platforms such as facebook, instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. This means you can start posting, sharing, and chatting with friends online, but remember to stay safe and keep your personal info private.

Have a Bar Mitzvah

If you’re Jewish, turning 13 means you might have a Bar Mitzvah (for boys) or Bat Mitzvah (for girls). It’s a special ceremony that marks becoming an adult in the eyes of the Jewish community.

Have a Part-Time Job with Restrictions

At 13, you can start working part-time jobs, but there are rules about what kind of jobs you can do and how many hours you can work. It’s a chance to earn your own money and learn about responsibility. Ask around your community to see if there are any job opportunities for 13 year olds!

Be Considered a Teenager

Turning 13 is a big deal because it officially makes you a teenager! The number 13 is the first one that ends with “teen”, so you’re now in your teenage years. This is a new chapter with more freedom, but also more responsibility.

Turning 13 Years Old

Although there are still a lot of things 13 year olds can’t do, such as drive a car or vote, turning 13 is a huge milestone. This is the age where one begins the transition from childhood into adulthood. The next big milestone ages are turning 16 years old and finally becoming an adult when turning 18. Many children look forward to becoming a teenager, as it is the first step towards receiving more responsibilities and gaining independence.
