Having had three children go through the testing, I advise that your child should take both tests. Two of my children did better on the ACT while the third child's scores were the same for both tests. (I look at that as 2/3 did better on the ACT and 1/3 the same with the SAT). In my discussions with other parents, it seems to be more than 15% do better on the ACT.

Another recommendation I would make is to make sure that your student takes many practice tests. That alone seems to help scores. My children who read more for themselves also did better on the tests.

I have always told my children to try to do their best and they would end up going to college somewhere that would be good for them.
